Emerging Community of GraphCAT

The latest vision of the GraphCAT group is to make Catalonia a world reference in the development of advanced graphene applications. The aim of GraphCAT is to strengthen and accelerate the transfer of graphene-based technology to Catalan industry (existing or emerging) with a focus on strategic industrial sectors that can benefit from integrated graphene technologies (biomedicine, energy, graphene and compound production, optoelectronics), offering a major competitive advantage in the global market.

GraphCAT's mission is to create a community in Catalonia that generates synergies which drive the development and technological innovation of graphene and graphene-based technologies; to grow and strengthen links between the international community of graphene researchers and local industries to develop and apply graphene technologies; to facilitate technology transfer to existing industries and to support the creation of new industries through technological spin-offs and the training of entrepreneurs.

Beneficiaries:

Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2), Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Institute of High Energy Physics (IFAE), Technology Centre of Catalonia (EURECAT), August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS), Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), IMB-CSIC, Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM).

The GraphCAT project, with file number 001-P-001702, is 50% co-financed with 1,983,366.89 € from the European Union's Regional Development Fund, within the framework of the ERDF Operational Programme for Catalonia 2014-2020, and supported by the Government of Catalonia.
