Two researchers from the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute among the most renowned researchers in the world according to the Highly Cited Researchers ranking.

Doctors Joaquim Bellmunt and Jordi Alonso are included in the Highly Cited Researchers ranking, prepared by Clarivate, which lists the most influential researchers in the world. This list is compiled from citation data in scientific publications, selecting the 1% of the most cited studies between 2011 and 2021.

In total, the ranking includes 6,938 people from 69 countries, of which 97 come from the State. They are divided into 21 categories. In the case of Dr. Jordi Alonso, head of the Health Services Research Group at IMIM-Hospital del Mar, he appears for the seventh time on this list, this time in the cross-field category, which identifies those researchers with great influence in various fields, with nearly 80,000 citations. Dr. Joaquim Bellmunt, researcher of the Cancer Research Program, appears for the third time in the field of Clinical Medicine, accumulating nearly 34,000 citations.
