The Computational Genomics Group at Biomedical Informatics was formed in 2006. The group has 4 full PIs (Mar Albà, Robert Castelo, Eduardo Eyras and Núria López-Bigas) and an associated PI (Roderic Guigó). The Computational Genomics Group is also an UPF research group.
Research in the Computational Genomics Group is directed towards the integration of different types of molecular and functional data to gain an understanding of biological processes at a genome-wide level. For this, we use and develop a wide range of bioinformatics tools. We try to answer questions related to the structure and function of molecular networks, the evolutionary dynamics of genes, the regulation of alternative splicing and the molecular mechanisms of disease.
